College Major: Behavioral Health, Mental Health including: Community Health Worker, Peer Support Specialist, Wellness Coach I/II, Addiction Studies, Substance Use Counseling, Psychology/Mental Health, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing, School Counseling, School Social Work, Educational Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Physician’s Assistant, and Applied Behavior Analysis
Awarded to Ventura County residents who are entering, or are enrolled in a certificate, undergraduate, graduate, or medical/professional school program that focuses on behavioral/mental health. Awardees must intend to serve the behavioral/mental health needs in Ventura County upon graduation. Applicants must be current or former Medi Cal benefit recipient. Preference given to past recipients of the GCHP Behavioral Health Scholarship Fund. Preference given to current or former foster youth. Preference given to applicants who have current or past involvement in the criminal justice system. Preference given to first generation college students. Preference given to applicants who are fluent in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Mixteco/other indigenous languages, American Sign Language, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, Tagalog. Preference given to applicants who live in the following ZIP codes: 93040, 93033, 93060, 93041, 93036, 93043, 93030, 93001, 93023, 93015, 93003, 93010, 93012, 93040.Award Amounts: Certificate Program $3500, Associate Degree $5500, Bachelor’s Degree $7500, Graduate/Medical Degree $9500.
